Music... a huge part of my life since I was a child. Now featuring a touch of grey but looking forward to my 40s being a musical decade!
Started FAWM in 2016. Have never looked back. 36 in FAWM 2016, 80 in 50/90 2016, 78 in FAWM 2017, 134 in 50/90 2017 (though about 25 were done by my kids, to be fair), 75 in FAWM 2018, 121 in 50/90 2018 (again with 15 or so done by my kids), 69 in FAWM 2019...
If you don't want to call me 'metalfoot' I also will answer to Alex.
My plans in specific for 2019 are:
1) To work on the Periodic Table project a little.
2) To collaborate with some of my musical friends I made through FAWM and 50/90, including finishing up some old commitments I've dropped the ball on.
3) To win 50/90!
Of special note with regard to point 2: I might not star collabs as my favourites, because I don't presume to speak for those who are kind enough to collaborate with me, but generally, my collabs are among my favourite tracks.
Instruments which will be brought into play this time around:
-Seagull Merlin M4 Spruce (a dulcimer-like instrument)
-Lonestar Venice mandolin
-Simon & Patrick S&P Pro Mahogany 6-string acoustic steel-string guitar
-Silvertone electric guitar with or without Zoom G1XOn (more likely with, though)
-Rogue soprano ukulele
-Bach tenor trombone (Bb)
-pBone alto trombone (Eb)
-Casio Celviano digital piano
-MIDI controller keyboard thingy (small but interesting options...!)
-little black tin whistle in D
-5-chord autoharp in F
-whatever other instruments I find around here...
I'm not the most talented musician or producer around these parts, but I *do* come up with a lot of musical ideas. I dream of writing a truly memorable song that people will love and remember till the day they die.
Also, I'm not creating a separate 'metalfootlings' account for my kids here. But they *will* most likely be here, occasionally doing tracks alone or with dad. Any such tracks will be tagged #metalfootlings. Possibly might even drag my long-suffering wife into singing with me here or there. We'll see.
UPDATE: I have my wife convinced into doing Rocktober with me... so if I can only just get her to sign up for 50/90 now... :D. At 38 songs posted 1/3 of the way in. I've fallen off the rails a little... but hopefully I'll hit 50 some time in August. Maybe.
UPDATE 2: I've struggled really hard this year but even so, thanks to all my amazing collab partners, somehow I still managed to get over 50 and indeed over 80. You're all awesome and amazing people. I love you all.
