Liner Notes:

The pandemic has monkeyed with everyone's plans. I have temporarily set aside my dream gig teaching k-8 music. Instead I have an online class of 28 Kindergarten students aged 4-6.

My students are at home and I teach via videoconferencing online. When they can go to school they will go to two different schools in towns about 15km apart. To help build community spirit, I nicknamed our class with rhyming sections for both schools, Bayview and Tay Shores. So our Kindergarten class is "Bay Tay K". And teaching kindergarten online is part school and part producing daily episodes of Mr. Rogers, so of course, we needed a theme song.

BayTay K

D A
We are Bay Tay K and we love to play
A D
We explore, we draw and we dance every day.
G D
Though we are all safe at home.
A D
We meet every day, so we are not alone.

We are Bay Tay K and we love to play
We explore, we draw and we dance every day.
Our teacher, Mr. McGaughey likes to sing.
In our imaginations we can do anything.

We are Bay Tay K and we love to play
We explore, we draw and we dance every day.
Our teacher, Mrs. Northcott likes the great outdoors
She shows us things from nature we’ve never seen before.

We are Bay Tay K and we love to play
We explore, we draw and we dance every day.
Some of us like painting, some like to build towers
Together on the screen, we can play for hours

We are Bay Tay K and we love to play
We are Bay Tay K and we love to play
We are Bay Tay K and we love to play
WE LOVE to PLAY!

(I intend to try an interactive bit with the kids adding their own lines).
My name is Billy and I like to jump.
My name is Sally and I like star wars...

Such a clever name and I can imagine the kids singing along to this one, especially the chorus!

Great theme song! Bay Tay K is a-okay. That's a great idea to add the kids' parts. I hear "Acapella" is good free software for adding video/audio layers.
