Sleepless

Sleepless

Liner Notes:

Written as a result of my changing sleeping patterns over the lock down period and spending more time at home. Better still, not having the 5am wake up ritual for now. Being awake till the early hours can be stimulating and invigorating: Home, the street, the suburb, the world is yours whilst others sleep... so I have embraced it and am not fighting it and some of my most imaginative and most productive times have occurred whilst the world sleeps around me

Lyrics:

Sleepless

Sleepless
For all the right reasons
Staying awake
Chasing away my demons
Cleaning out my soul.
Sleepless
Days and evenings
Staying awake
And dreaming
Holding on
And believing
Sleep for the right reasons
Will come.

When it’s dark at night
That’s when I see the light.
In a world that is a slumber
Not going to be just another number
Going to use their dream time
To live mine.
Lie awake and wonder
About days of sun and thunder
Life aint going to drag me under
Going to live my nursery rhyme.

What’s the sense of sleeping?
Dreams unfilled bring weeping
Time ticks away, is stealing
Half of every day.
While others drift in cobwebs
Sleeping like the dead
I’m going to paint rainbows
And chase my dreams instead.

Sleepless
For all the right reasons
Staying awake
Chasing away my demons
Cleaning out my soul.
Sleepless
Days and evenings
Staying awake
And dreaming
Holding on
And believing
Sleep for the right reasons
Will come.

I really enjoy this novel perspective. Smile Very nicely crafted. As a former insomniac, for me not being able to sleep was no pleasure at all. But I admit, I did get a lot done during those deep night hours. And the night-time (up until about midnight) remains my favourite part of the 24-hour cycle.

I like these lines in particular:
When it’s dark at night
That’s when I see the light.
