Tennessee Hills

Liner Notes:

Could envision a county Fiddle or bluegrass feel

Lyrics:

V1
we would run
through green fields
sun up to sun down
climbing trees
skinning knees
falling to the ground

we would chase
fat gray squirrels
catch butterflies
rolling hills
summer thrills
heaven in our eyes

each day the same
and each a surprise

C
there were catfish in the river
and crawdads in the creek
there were grass snakes in the holler
and bullfrogs in the drink

there were ground hogs in the open
and raccoons in the woods
we made laughter echo
long and loud as we could

oh in those green Tennessee hills
love was ours, life was good

V2
we would roll
down grassy slopes
eyes tightly closed
going fast
moving past
old stumps and stones

we would wade
by untamed banks
mud between our toes
getting wet
splashing threats
‘til drenched and cold

each day like new
and each like old

C
there were catfish in the river
and crawdads in the creek
there were grass snakes in the holler
and bullfrogs in the drink

there were ground hogs in the open
and raccoons in the woods
we made laughter echo
long and loud as we could

oh in those green Tennessee hills
love was ours life was good

B
one day it happened
perhaps we had too much sun
we sat down by the willow
tried kissing just for fun
soon we both knew
we saw the smoking gun
running, chasing
rolling, wading
with one kiss
were done

C
there were catfish in the river
and crawdads in the creek
there were grass snakes in the holler
and bullfrogs in the drink

there were ground hogs in the open
and raccoons in the woods
we made laughter echo
long and loud as we could

oh in those green Tennessee hills
love was ours life was good

Nice big helping of nostalgia! This'll make a good song.
