The music in my soul

Liner Notes:
These are excellent lyrics and I've added some music that sounds like the 1950s and 60s but isn't a replica. I would have done more for this song but I'm going away for a week and thought it would be better to post something not quite finished rather than wait.
Lyrics:
Back when Poppa had a pompadour
And Momma wore long skirts
He told her he’d love her
Even if love hurts
Back when Elvis shocked the radio
And made the young girls scream
I was an idea
No more than a dream
(Chorus)
I was born too late to be there
For the birth of rock and roll
But I grew up to it
And I can do it
That music’s in my soul
They say I crawled in time to Don’t Be Cruel
And crooned Heartbreak Hotel
They bought me a pair of blue suede shoes
My dancing cast a spell
I tore up the place to Jailhouse Rock
And even learned to sneer
The music seeped into me
Deeper every year
(Chorus)
I was born too late to be there
For the birth of rock and roll
But I grew up to it
And I can do it
That music’s in my soul
(Bridge)
I sang for friends and family
My little voice in demand
Then came 1964
Mom and Pop couldn’t understand
I wouldn’t sing those Elvis songs
Anymore
’Cause nothing beat
I Want to Hold Your Hand
(Final Chorus)
I was born too late to be there
For the birth of rock and roll
Then the Beatles renewed it
And I still do it
That music’s in my soul
(2X)

This takes me back! I want to dance and I sure could with this treasure!
Well isn't this one for the juke box? This is a wonderful collaboration, the both of you. Happy and nostalgic. We could all use a little of that these days.
Great collab and clever references to the classics of the day...as I think Paul said...there wouldn't have been The Beatles if there hadn't been Elvis etc first...
