In a heartbeat

In a heartbeat

Liner Notes:

The result of an evening noodling on the uke while pondering some big life choices...

Lyrics:

Tonight I feel I need a little boost
Got all my choices coming home to roost
Freedom like a double-bladed knife
Pricetag for a better kind of life

So am I wrong or was I wrong before
Doesn't matter, no one's keeping score
All the shoulda, woulda, couldas crowding in, but then
In a heartbeat I would do it all again.

Maybe I should've listened to that voice
Didn't think I really had a choice
My good intentions paved my way to hell
Trapped inside a loop by my own spell

So am I wrong or was I wrong before
Doesn't matter, no one's keeping score
All the shoulda, woulda, couldas crowding in, but then
In a heartbeat I would do it all again.

I really like the rhythm of the lyric in the chorus. The chorus seems very optimistic and accepting, and the first verse seems to suggest the same (a better life, but with a price). But the second verse is different, fatalistic and troubled (trapped in hell, no less). I wonder whether there could be a third verse for this that brings those sentiments together

Nice tune

So deliciously catchy that by the time i read the 3rd stanza I was singing along. Lovely, and I can certainly relate.
