I love the bittersweet imagery of this lyric by @crisp1. I just had to put music to this one.
Very glad I did
Doug: How's that for a catchy chorus! Wonderful pop sound to the whole song. Wow, what a great job you did on this, Corey!
Lyrics:
I Let You Down
Words: crisp1
Music: coreystewart
In a garret
Alone in Paris
Looking out at mansard roofs
And a sky of clouds
Spending hours
Looking for answers
Trying to redeem myself
Though I don’t know how
Chorus
I let you down
I let you down
I let you down
And I won’t ever be the same
(2X)
You intrigued me
A kind of mystery
I could tell you felt a spark
So I played along
You are worth it
But I made no effort
To give you something more than time
Yeah, I did you wrong
Chorus
I let you down
I let you down
I let you down
And I won’t ever be the same
(2X)
(Bridge)
When I woke up in the morning
And found you’d slipped away
The face I saw in the mirror
Was of someone who’d betrayed
What it means to have…
A heart
I let myself down, too
(Instrumental)
Chorus
I let you down
I let you down
I let you down
And I won’t ever be the same

Wow this is fabulous! Captured so well and an awesome song!
perfect pop song, so well written, produced , and performed. the kind of music that catches your ear no matter what mood your in..and gives you a lift, making your day a little lighter and brighter,
Wow! What a great bass tone you've got going there! Love the electric piano and those vocals...jealous!
Great, great song and great collaboration, gang!
This does not let me down at all! Such a great pop groove and wonderful vocals! The music is so good and the lyrics as so well constructed and delivers such an intimate and insightful perspective. Great collaboration!
Some nice lyrics here, and the music does a good job bringing them to life. Nice catchy chorus. Good vocals all around, especially in that chorus. Whole thing gives me a strong early 80s feel, especially that electric piano and synth solo.
