Momento Mori

Momento Mori

Liner Notes:

I'm struggling to stay motivated to do anything right now. Write, listen, participate in forums. I'll try to get back on track. I ground this out... a nod to Saint Saens' Danse Macabre. Mostly I just wanted to play with the xylophone sound.

Please keep your comments respectful, honest, and constructive. Please focus on the song and not the demo.

Are those the Logic string sounds? Not bad. I'm using Logic but didn't start using orchestral sounds much til I got the "Spitfire" orchestra.

Love the xylophone. The idea of a momento mori changes the experience of listening to this for sure.

A somber mix offset by the tinkling xylophone. I feel the slog. I was there through most of May and June and know while it passes it shall return.

The xylophone over the deep strings works really well. Nice dark, creepy, but not quite horror feel.

the xylophone sounds pretty dead and clunky for the furst 50 seconds or so, then you get some tone out of it and play some nice runs that fit well with the rest of the instrumentation.

Very pretty-- the bony tone of the xylophone give that dance-of-the-dead feel nicely.

Oh, very soundtrack-worthy.
Like the soundtrack to an old cartoon where Betty Boop goes in to a haunted house or something.
Love that xylophone.
Goes nicely with the strings.
Really excellent title.

I love how you say you are struggling to produce and yet produce this sinister fable. I get the reference but this is totally your own now. Very incredible
