Liner Notes:

Can't remember where this idea came from. I wrote the lyrics near the beginning on 5090 and then they got buried under other stuff. Set it to music by finding a set of symbiotic guitar loops.

Make a Wish
Susan Cantey © 2019

The sun was getting low
It had been a perfect day
How was I to know
What would happen down the road
I stopped to buy a sandwich
Some chips and a diet coke
Got back on that winding road
A few more miles to go

Make a wish
Make a wish
La la la la la la la la
Make a wish
Make a wish
La la la la la la la la

I was listening to NPR
Getting very close to home
When something shiny caught my eye
So, I pulled off to the side
It was an old oil lamp
Like the one Aladdin had
Could it really be?
Might as well rub it and see

Make a wish
Make a wish
La la la la la la la la
Make a wish
Make a wish
La la la la la la la la

So, I rubbed the lamp with all my might
And standing there in the dwindling light…
(short dramatic interlude)
Nothing happened
Nothing happened

Make a wish
Make a wish
La la la la la la la la
Make a wish
Make a wish
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la

Nice uplifting tune. I laughed at the anti climax. Very good. Catchy chorus. Funny use of the mundane details... coke and chips. Favourite part was the bridge towards the end had a great harmony to it. Nice work. I'm still wishing.... Smile

I love your light head voice, super ethereal, very funny lyrics, nice build up to the .... anticlimactic finale I loved it!

Susan - that chorus...man, it's so welcoming. I love this so much. You even inserted a Diet Coke and chips in there, too! How all kinds of awesome is that!?!
