Liner Notes:

I watched a video recently that explained some hard truths about aboriginal genocide in Australia's since white settlement.

In the past I didn't care (or understand), cos I was a kiwi and NZ doesn't have that kind of atrocious history.

But now that i've been here over 20 yrs, this stuff is starting to affect me and I've always known Australia has a racist element, but now, politically it's become a hell of a lot more obvious.

So while I don't write political songs, I really reflected on that speech, pretended it was my family line being murdered and wiped out, and suddenly for a few mins I understood (without truely understanding) so I had a go, trying to be in someone else shoes.

Has someone changed the words?
Do you wanna know the truth
Even if it burns?

Will you sit beside me
As they tell their stories once more
Nothing can take away
The power of the spoken word
And it's not for the lack of trying
For them to burn the truth
Show me in the constitution
Where I’m equal to you

Fantastic sociopolitical song with such a strong chorus. I like the contrast between the verses and choruses. I really love the perspective you bring to this. It is powerful and important.

No words. I think what you have written totally speaks for itself. I could go in deep with comment, but I don't think it's necessary. You've laid it out here quite vividly.
