Liner Notes:

I didn't have time or energy to do a demo for this one but here is a musical memo. This was originally made for my personal use only to remember how the melody and chords go. Normally I don't have harmonies on my memos but this one has some in the bridge. You should think this as a placeholder for future demo.

The technical quality is not great etc and so forth but John's @oneslowtyper lyrics are really nice. They have a good rhythm and a very heartfelt and important message. They were written for the Apollo Challenge. Thanks, John, for the lyrics.

Lyrics:

A Brave New World

V1
A brave new world… awaits the stranger…
For he survived… a list of dangers…
As he descends… a simple ladder…
He – knows the next – step – is – all… that matters…

Ch
One small step… For all nations…
One small step… ahead of me…
One small step… a new world calling…
One more step... for.. all.. to see…

V2
I bring the hopes… that man will travel…
Society… will not unravel…
I see a chance… to change the focus…
To feel the dream… that has… awoke us…

Ch
One small step… For all nations…
One small step… ahead of me…
One small step… a new world calling…
One more step... for.. all.. to see…

Bridge
We have solved the hardest problems… as we sailed along thru space
Yet the answers to unite us… as one people and one race
Have yet to be accomplished… seems to me, we’ve lost our way
Don’t accept those who divide us… and reject the things they say
You may think it’s one small step, but others follow in your wake…

Ch
One small step… For all nations…
One small step… go straight and true…
One small step… a new world calling…
One more step... begins.. with you…

What great lyrics to work with! It's good you had this, and it does work together so well. Love the guitar and this songs message.

this reminds me of the kinks,,,those garage rock chords and quirky melody lyrics are really kinksy too, sharp satirical subtlety...

i agree with Bill the writing is very Ray Davies (nice one Jonno) - so who would better do it than our 60s Blunstone/Davies aka Klaus. Very nice

I gotta agree with John and Bill on this one, Klaus. This thing just oozes all those things I love about the Kinks. For a "placeholder" this still packs a lot of goodies into the song.

I'm really loving that chord progression.
I'm also really liking the stripped-down nature of this.
Inspiring lyrics for sure.
Excellent work here, folks!

Looking at the lyrics...nice opening verse...quite visual. One small step is a powerful phrase. v2 Society will not unravel is a key here. The bridge has a strong message of world peace. A message that one stronger leader and everybody will follow. Well, that's what I get out of it. A little political for my taste but very good John, well done. I'm ready for the audio now...hold. Guitar intro...sounds good...vocals now...sounds good...one small step...good melody...one small step for all nations...for all to see...nice changeup on the guitar....bridge...nice guitar picking....harmony vocals now....cool effect Klaus....driving rock guitar sound now...one small step...and out. Yeah, this is really good Klaus. I understand the liner notes and still, this turns out to be a great collab. Well done by both.

The lyrics really capture the sense of achievement that there was back then. It felt like anything was possible... Even as a rough sketch, this song has real power to it, particularly the bridge - it's got real emotional impact.

Please let me know if you record a "full" version!
