Liner Notes:

Liz wrote these wonderful lyrics awhile back. I really liked them and thought they sang off the page. I only have my guitar and voice with me at the moment, so this is a one take demo. Anyone remember that old song How Much I Feel For You? Well, the title of Liz's lyrics made me think of that song, so I wanted it to have that soft rock pop feel. Popped in a bunch of Maj7 chords to make it have that vibe.

Lyrics:

V1
I can feel tension build
when you touch me
as you walk by
I can feel passion flow
when you smile
with sweet surprise
I can feel desire grow
when you look deep
into my eyes

L1
I can feel...I can feel..that...

C
we could embrace this moment
follow the beats our hearts send
we could make this night magic
chase this desire to lush ends
we could release guarded passion
share the touch that love transcends
oh.... we could make this night magic...
or we could stay old friends ...

V2
can you feel tension build
as I brush a crumb
from your lip?
can you feel passion flow
when I sit close
touching hips?
can you feel desire grow
when I say goodbye
with a kiss?

L2
can you feel?..can you feel..that...

C
we could embrace this moment
follow the beats our hearts send
we could make this night magic
chase this desire to lush ends
we could release guarded passion
share the touch that love transcends
oh.... we could make this night magic...
or we could stay old friends ...

B
oh I would like to feel the magic...
and never let it end...
but I want you to always be
a close and trusted friend...
how do I stop the restless stirring
I have allowed to begin?

L3
I can feel...can you feel..that...

OUTRO
we could make this night magic ...
or we could stay old friends ...

Personally I prefer your 1v1g demos. Anyway, good one, works, great demo as ballads go, another good one.

lots of power dynamics with a cool, relaxed beat. i m with you on the lyric. reading what liz writes often has me reaching for a guitar.

I really love that lift melody, how it works as a transition but just the feel of it. This is a very good lyric, that old flame, what could it be feeling is strong and even though I don't picture this myself, I definitely see it hitting that universal nerve. The music works very well, I like the phrasing/pace of the melody over the open guitar chords. A good one, you two.

This is so sweet and so seventies singer-songwritery I love it!

I've always been partial to those maj7 chords, and I dig the funky-folk strum under your soaring melody. I like the gentle build of the lyrics and the way the long vocal notes really highlight that. Very sweet and romantic!

When I see Val say, "I only have my guitar and voice..."
Well, in my opinion, that's one the most understated liner notes in 50/90 history! LOL
This is just fantastic, Val. This is such a touching story by Liz, that soooo many people can relate to.

For most of us, in our lifetime we've had lovers come and go, but those few TRUE friends in your life are rare... and I love this story of being conflicted about the possibility of having both love and friendship or risking the loss of one when wanting to have both.

It's got a bit of an R&B feel to it with the laid back guitar rhythm. Nicely done!
