Amanda says: These lyrics were written for the regular Sunday night skirmish, and the theme this week was 'My Biggest Fear'. This will be another for the band FKOD (Future Kings Of Denmark)
UPDATE 16th Aug: Steven has recorded a 'sketch' of the song and I am now working on the lyric changes/editing etc. Then it will be rerecorded

@metalfoot yes for sure. I tend to usually write from the guys point of view almost always, because 95% of my regular co-writers are male. So writing from my own POV feels strange sometimes.
Really strong, powerful insight shines through in the bridge. Very effective hook in the chorus, especially with the repetition. The strength is in knowing one’s weakness!

I can relate to being similarly susceptible. You’ve nailed it every step of the way with your words. Excellent momentum that even builds more in the bridge with “Don't wanna be falling / Headlong and crawling”. This could elicit a very passionate performance from someone!
Good commentary on fears we have of our own reactions. It's best to be cautious which the character in the song evidences with her or his awareness of the danger. A well rounded view of the situation.
Looking at the lyrics...v1 I thought it was God but then the pre-chorus suggest it is human...ok. The chorus really delivers the message should I love to be....interesting choice of thoughts....kissed by your hell. V2 shows the uncertainty and then the pre-chorus again, pulling me, making me feel I'm the one. That's a pretty honest way of thinking out loud I think. Either that or you are telling me what I want to hear...lol The bridge expands on the fear of getting involved with somebody so charismatic...and or in some cases a bad boy. Good job on this Amanda.
@jcollins Re: 'Kissed By Your Hell' ...It's interesting that you wonder if it's an honest way of thinking out loud (the pre ch). I had to stop and think back as to how and where it came from as I was writing. Yes I have been in this situation, but honestly that was not in my mind when I wrote this.
This was actually written for a man to sing, but reading it back it could equally be a woman singing.
Maybe when I write now, I am subconciously drawing on my memories of emotions, without realising it. However, I am pretty good at imagining emotions & situations (I used to write fiction ;))
I defo wasn't telling you what you wanted to hear. Unless of course you wanted to hear that
re v1 and it maybe being God... I write using universal lyrics as best as I can, so that a song can be used in as many situations as possible (and I earn more lol). So that's great that you felt v1 was about Him, very interesting

Kissed By Your Hell is an incredible title, image, and hyperbole all in one. And you bring the title to scary, stark life. Could be a piano-driven power ballad, or a slow-burn metal song. Chorus is intense, and you have some really unique word choices throughout (allure, devious ...). Powerful stuff here.

I like the strong images and verbs, ripping, tearing and dragging. Definitely conveys the dark, heavy emotion of the lyric.

Those guitars! I liked the lyrics only, and I'm glad I came back for this absolutely groovy song. Sort of psychedelic, '70s jangle pop vibe - I love that kind of stuff!
Nice rocky number. Love the production on this. Vocal hits the right amount of power and force. It's nice. Title and hook is a real winner. Evokes imagery just by reading it. Very accomplished song. Nice work.

Wow, somehow I've missed the FKOD all these years. These is just how I like my music. I love those reverb-drenched guitars and awesome vocal hooks. Kissed by your hell, that's a great line. I'm not entirely sure what it means, which makes it even better. Pretty awesome all around!
