Liner Notes:

Jerry here: Larry and I go way back to the old Yahoo 5090 group. I still remember doing a demo for "Basket Weaving Rosie". Unfortunately that song was never released and I don't have the demo anymore. I actually lost a lot of my old demos from way back when. This song caught my attention and I stepped up to offer to do a collaboration once again and Larry said yes and added me as a collaborator. I hope I did good on this? Thanks for listening and thanks to Larry for the song. The man's a genius and a superstar country writer.

Production notes: I think it was about 3 hours to make this song play.

Update: This demo has been updated to version 2 9/16/2019

Lyrics:

Far And Distant Land

Well, I'm a-goin down to the ocean
There ain't nobody gonna slow me down or stop my hand
Yes, I'm a-goin down to the ocean
Gonna bury my problems in a far and distant land

Your goodbye to me was so hard to hear
As your shoes walked from my life
Now how can I go on without you dear
I suppose I'll have to try

(Instrumental)

Well, I'm a-goin down to the ocean
There ain't nobody gonna slow me down or stop my hand
Yes, I'm a-goin down to the ocean
Gonna bury my problems in a far and distant land

The old telephone I now hear ringing
Friends want to know where you've gone
I don't know but I've been busy thinking
It's now time for me to roam

(Instrumental)

Well, I'm a-goin down to the ocean
There ain't nobody gonna slow me down or stop my hand
Yes, I'm a-goin down to the ocean
Gonna bury my problems in a far and distant land

Wow! Sounds so commercial. I kinda hear some Blues.

Looking at the lyrics....opening verse very nice visual with the Ocean. Second verse, very nice broken heart section and I guess I have to move on. Chorus again now. Nice visual with the telephone ringing. Chorus outro. Pretty good Larry! Actually, I kind of would like to try something on this if that's ok with you? I'm backed up right now and it would take a few days before I could get to this. Let me know and if not that's ok and I can pick another song.

Hey Jerry, my friend you did an excellent job on your new demo I like it bro. Larry did an excellent job on the lyrics. The song sounds great.

A song for those times when it feels like the best thing to do is just walk out the door and never come back. The line "As your shoes walked from my life" is intriguing - it left me wondering why the emphasis is on the person's shoes, rather than just "you walked from my life"...

The demo really captures the feel of a band in a live room and I'm a sucker for a basic sidestick beat.

Country-rock vibe sounds great and sure fits the words. I love the guitar sound of your leads, too.
Catchy chorus lyrically and musically, and I like how it ends on a minor chord.
I usually associate Larry's words with straight-up country, and this is a cool departure.

Man, I like old-time country/cowboy music. This is a great example of the genre. Really nice job, guys--great collaboration.
