I have had the backing music for this cooking for a few days - the bass riff especially. Doug's chorus just fit, magically! I had the pattern of three sections of the chorus bass and one variation already - and this lyric sheet just grabbed and wouldn't let go! Kudos for writing an accessible, fun set of lyrics!
Doug's notes: Crazy how FAWM and 50/90 work out sometimes! I almost never do collaborations that result in music like this but it's fun for me to hear it. Spirulence did a really great job at putting it all together to create a sound I didn't expect. Bravo!
Lyrics:
I love the sandpaper of his hands
And the gravel in his voice
The earth moves when he touches me
I don’t have a choice
Down and dirty
We get
Down and dirty
We get
So down and dirty
The rain can’t wash away
Our sin
I’m feeling like I never felt
My heart beats faster than before
My body heat shoots way up when
He walks through my door
Down and dirty
We get
Down and dirty
We get
So down and dirty
The rain can’t wash away
Our sin
And he isn’t mine
But he’s not just hers
He’s somewhere in between
I’m gonna love him
Till he's got no choice
He’ll have to stay with me
(Instrumental)
Down and dirty
We get
Down and dirty
We get
So down and dirty
The rain can’t wash away
Our sin

is frankie going back to hollywood?
This is awesome! I love the sexy urgent feeling of unbridled desire in this great dance track. I absolutely love the chorus and can imagine this in a club with a lot of sexy bodies dancing! I love the bridge and the instrumental following! Really awesome ready for the club music.
Real mid-80s club feel - getting a bit of Erasure and a bit of Frankie from this. Some more modern touches in the vocal treatment. Really good collab.
Great, great arrangement on this, guys--wonderful collaboration. Nice lyrics, nice vocal and I really, really like this arrangement. Takes me back...
Looking at the lyrics...rough hands a gravel voice...that's cool. Chorus now...that's catchy! Second verse moves through feeling...very nice. Next verse....good luck with that...lol. Chorus outro...yeah that's good Doug. I'm ready for the audio now...hold. Good beat and great spacey vocals...verse now....sounds good. Good mix. Chorus now...sounds great. Very catchy chorus. Can clearly understand the lyrics. Chorus again....very catchy. Change up now...works well. Cowbell? Solo now...very nice. Chorus again now...I'm telling you guys this is very catchy. Outro...can't wash away our sins. Great job on this spin. Great job by both, I like it!
Great track! For me it also sounds like a modernized mid-80 tune. Cool harmonica.
