Lyrics:

I’ll Be Close Behind

If you’re walking all alone and talking to yourself
If you’ve lost all that you own and your heart’s on the shelf
Turn around cause I’ll be close behind

If you feel that love has gone and never will come home
If you sense that no one cares and your heart needs repairs
Turn around cause I’ll be close behind

Turn around cause I’ll be close behind
Turn around cause you’re still on my mind
I’ll be close behind and love you’ll find

(Instrumental)

If you’re thinking true love dies and love you now despise
If your vision has been blurred and don’t believe a word
Turn around cause I’ll be close behind

If you’re seeing things in blue and there’s no golden hue
If it seems that nothing’s right and your view isn’t bright
Turn around cause I’ll be close behind

Turn around cause I’ll be close behind
Turn around cause you’re still on my mind
I’ll be close behind and love you’ll find

Hey, Larry Jones! This definitely has a country structure and storyline. That hook line, "turn around cause I'll be close behind" is ideal for some vocal play. I anticipate that to have anticipatory pauses and a heap of vocal emotion to carry the theme through.

My apologies for the misunderstanding...I was saying it reads that way, not that I was going to record it. I'm not skilled with instruments and this song deserves more than a capella.

Also, I just happened to be curious what the new commenter had to say on your song and clicked into it and saw your reply. Just so you know, I would not have seen it if I didn't click into your song again. You have to go to a commenter's profile for them to see it. I know the "reply" button on here is deceiving. It makes it appear as though others would see your response on here, but only people who click into your song and you can see it.

What a great song Larry! It's amazing how you can come up with so many great ideas. Yes, turn around I'll be close behind gives true hope for the heartbroken. Nice structure and perfect for performers. I can't play anymore Larry but I'll check back and see if somebody takes a shot at this as I know it will be good. That structure really matters and that's why I always enjoyed performing your songs. You make it easy for the performers and always classy lyrics.

Thanks Jerry. When writing, I have to constantly watch and revise the syllable count of the lines, for easier music notation and for the artist singing.

I like how you present the hook and the structure of the verses with partial repetitions. It really brings the point home. And the message in this is so positive and hopeful.
